About

#HelloMyNameIs Amy Frounks and I am 21 years old. Since I have been 10 years old, I have had numerous health conditions that led to me becoming disabled. My physical and emotional wellbeing fluctuates significantly but are always intertwined, one aspect affects the other. After relapsing, I was fortunate to have received Neuro Rehabilitation for 4 months in 2017 and this has meant that I have been able to improve beyond anyone’s expectations. The level of support and rehabilitation I received was exemplary and has changed my outlook and abilities.

I have been involved in numerous patient participation roles on a local and national level, frequently discussing communication, transition, shared decision making, rehabilitatiQNIon and common experiences within health care. I was selected to join @NHSYouthForum for 2 years and from then on started networking which has led me to volunteer and work in numerous organisations. Part of this means I speak at conferences about the common themes for Children and Young People to share a wide range of experiences. I learnt that it is just as worthwhile to share the good practice as it is to reflect on bad care. From following me on twitter, you will notice that I often use #CYPexp or #YAexp – Young Adult experience is an area that I am really keen on growing.

I realized I often write blogs for others and despite having plenty of ideas, I have never completed my own blog and sometimes I have experiences that I would like to share and discuss through writing… that’s why I  finally decided in 2018, I would also create my own blog.
